What is Training at PhysioWelt?

Training at PhysioWelt includes three formats: Personal Training, Club Training, and Group Training. All three formats are planned and guided by physiotherapists. A doctor's referral is not required.

This distinguishes our training services from Medical Training Therapy (MTT), which requires a doctor's referral and is billed through basic health insurance (OKP). If you are looking for a service that can be billed through OKP, you can find all the information you need on our MTT page. Training at PhysioWelt is a self-pay service that you can book directly without a referral.

Our Training Options in Schlieren

PhysioWelt offers three training formats, each tailored to your goals, individual circumstances, and starting point.

Personal Training

One-to-one training with a physiotherapist, tailored to your medical history, goals, and current level of performance.

  • Suitable for: People with individual training goals, a history of injury, or a preference for personal guidance rather than training in a group format.
  • Training program: After a detailed assessment, your physiotherapist creates a training plan with flexible scheduling and progress tracking.

Physiotherapist-guided off-season and recovery training for sports clubs and teams in the Zürich area.

  • Suitable for: Football clubs, running clubs, and other team sports during pre-season preparation or a recovery phase. The focus is on injury prevention.
  • Training program: Structured group training sessions with functional exercises, strength training, and coordination exercises, planned and led by physiotherapists.

Group Training

Guided training sessions in a small group, designed to improve strength, mobility, or back health.

  • Suitable for: People who want to train in a small group with individual guidance, without the commitment of joining a sports club or the anonymity of a fitness center.
  • Training program: Designed and led by physiotherapists, with adjustments for different starting levels within the group.

Who is Training at PhysioWelt for?

The service is open to adults with or without a history of injury. If you prefer physiotherapist-guided training to working out at a gym without professional supervision, PhysioWelt offers a format that suits your needs.

  • After completing physiotherapy: For patients who have finished acute treatment and want to maintain or build on their results without needing a new referral.
  • Active athletes and sports clubs: For individuals and clubs looking for structured training with physiotherapist guidance. Club training is designed specifically for team sports.
  • Prehabilitation before surgery: Targeted strength training before a planned operation. Available as Personal Training or in a group format.
  • Prevention without a history of injury: For anyone who wants to train under professional guidance without a medical referral.

When Should You See a Doctor First?

Training at PhysioWelt is guided by physiotherapists. In some situations, it is advisable to have a medical assessment before starting training.

Please speak with your doctor first if you:

  • Have acute, unexplained pain following an injury or surgery
  • Have uncontrolled high blood pressure or a known heart condition
  • Have a fever or are experiencing an active inflammatory condition
  • Have a recent fracture or are still receiving post-operative care
  • Experience unexplained dizziness or neurological symptoms

Once you have received medical clearance, we will work with you to develop a safe and appropriate training program.

Our Approach to Training

All training formats at PhysioWelt follow the same three principles: individualized (matched to your starting point and goals), progressive (load management is built up systematically), and documented (your progress is recorded and the plan is adjusted when needed).

At your first appointment, we assess your situation, goals, and training history. Based on this assessment, we work with you to choose the format that best suits your needs. Whether you choose Personal Training, Club Training, or Group Training, the physiotherapeutic approach remains at the core of our training.

For people with a doctor's referral and OKP entitlement, Medical Training Therapy (MTT) is the appropriate option. After completing a phase of MTT, you can continue with training without interruption. If your goal is to return to competition in your sport, Sports Physiotherapy offers additional support.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is the difference between personal training, club training, and group training at PhysioWelt?

Personal training is a one-to-one format with a physiotherapist, shaped entirely around one person. Group training is a guided small-group format for people who want to train together. Club training is aimed at sports clubs and teams, with a focus on pre-season preparation and injury prevention.

2. How is training at PhysioWelt different from a gym?

Every format at PhysioWelt is planned and guided by physiotherapists. The program is based on your personal starting point and your goals, not on a single plan for everyone. There is no membership and no self-service format.

3. What is the difference between training and MTT at PhysioWelt?

Medical Training Therapy (MTT) requires a doctor's referral (Verordnung) and is billed through basic insurance (Grundversicherung OKP). Training at PhysioWelt is a self-pay service and can be booked without a referral.

4. Does health insurance cover the cost of training?

No. The training formats at PhysioWelt (personal training, club training, group training) are self-pay services and are not billed through basic insurance (Grundversicherung OKP). Some supplementary insurance policies (Zusatzversicherungen) do cover physiotherapist-guided training. Check your policy.

5. Can I book training without a previous injury or a referral?

Yes. All three training formats are open to adults who want to train under professional supervision: with or without a history of injury, with or without a doctor's referral. If you are planning prehabilitation before a scheduled operation, you can book directly.
